A defibrillator is housed in the old red telephone kiosk, for use by anyone in the village in an emergency.<\/p>

The main noticeboard in the village is located close to the telephone kiosk and post box.<\/p>

Kynnersley, our next village, has a village hall, where the Gardening Club meets.<\/p>\n

The whole village is covered by a 20mph speed limit.\u00a0\u00a0 We have no street lighting, few pavements, many cyclists and regular horse riders.\u00a0\u00a0 Electronic signs remind drivers of the speed limit.\u00a0\u00a0 It is always a busy time when children arrive at and depart from the school and drivers are asked to use great caution in this area.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

This accident happened on Saturday 28th November 2020, at the old telephone kiosk junction.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The airbags appears to have been deployed in the car and this normally happens at speeds well in excess of 16mph.<\/p>

The nearest pub (and restaurant) is The Queen\u2019s at Horton.\u00a0\u00a0 There used to be a pub in Preston, thought to be at 9 Moorside.\u00a0\u00a0 In the early 1900s, the canal was busy and Preston was an overnight stop.\u00a0 \u00a0A St. Lawrence’s Church Sunday School teacher, the late Miss Margaret Turner, recalled her father telling her that as a result, the pub was a well-used watering hole where mayhem frequently broke out, as the drunks went back to their boats.\u00a0\u00a0 The locals kept well clear of the area at turning out time.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Should you be walking just outside the village towards Kynnersley, there is a telegraph pole (above right) with a pattern made up from coloured drawing pins.\u00a0\u00a0 The reason for this remains a mystery.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

There is generally very little litter in the village, however on the roads around Preston there is a problem. \u00a0\u00a0 Hence there is a litterpicking group and more information about it can be found on the notice board.<\/p>

The litter on the right was picked up in one visit between Preston and Kynnersley in November 2020.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
